My final full day in England was perfect! The weather was beautiful and I finally got to go punting on the River Cam. Gonville and Caius was an amazing place to live for six weeks. I have now returned to my home in the states and it was weird to see the contrast of everything between the two countries. I will miss hearing all sorts of different languages outside my window everyday. I will miss the hustle and bustle of city life. I won't miss the food, at least not the dining hall food, nor will I miss having people on the street come up to me and ask for money. One thing I am going to incorporate into my everyday routine is to have afternoon tea time. This was an awesome adventure that I got to experience and I'm so happy I finally got to go the the U.K.!

This past weekend I went to Edinburgh, Scotland and it was the best weekend! We left early Thursday morning to embark on a 6 hour bus ride. The good news is we got to stop twice, once at a rest stop and then at Hadrian's Wall, which had ruins that I climbed on!! Thursday night around 6:00 o'clock we arrived in Scotland! I went out to dinner with some friends and then to bed because it was a long day. Friday was mostly spent wondering around Edinburgh, where the Fringe Festival was taking place and the streets were crowded with all sorts of people. Saturday was the best day because it had to do with all things Harry Potter!! It was the most amazing experience to sit in the cafe that the J.K. Rowling wrote the first Harry Potter book! After I did all the H.P. stuff I just wandered around Scotland some more, and ate lunch on a hill. Then it was Sunday morning, 3am to be exact, when I made the crazy decision to climb Arthur's seat to watch the sunrise, which is a program tradition. Even though it was freezing cold, windy, and I was very tired the hike was worth it! After an hour nap it was time to get on the bus again, where we stopped at York. It was a cute little town with shops everywhere and it was a good chance to stretch my legs. Overall this was a jam packed weekend of walking, fangirling, and going to one of my now favorite cities in the U.K. Happy Saturday Everyone! Yesterday I went to the amazing Dover Castle where battles were fought all the way up to WWII. It was such a beautiful day! Also apparently with a less foggy skyline in the distance you can see France! I didn't get to see it, but I was near it which is awesome. Then from Dover we went to Canterbury Cathedral, which by the time we got there some friends and I were very tired and spent most of the time sitting on a bench looking at a stream. We did wonder around Canterbury a bit, it was just a cute small town with lots of tourists. I also may or may not have gotten sunburnt... Cue the image slideshow!! This post is brought to y'all because we have reached the half way point of my trip already! It was rough in the beginning trying to make friends and dealing with anxiety, but I've overcome some of those obstacles and have made two really great friends on this trip thus far! Thanks to them and just being my weird self I'd like to believe that I am doing everything to make the most out of this trip. All of the pictures I've posted so far have been from my phone because it takes better quality photos than my camera does. Good news is I have finally figured out how to get the photos I've taken off of my camera so here are so more pictures that I've taken over the course of the past three weeks. This collection of photos will include my first trip to London, the Botanical Gardens, walking around Cambridge, Darwin's house, and Hampton Court! Let's take a look back at my road so far on this journey! Carry on my wayward blog viewers! I went back to London this past weekend and it was so amazing!! I think it is easily one of my favorite cities now and I'm so thankful that I got to go back and have a fun day of exploration, musicals, and pizza! Cue the slideshow!Hello everyone! |
